Corrections Policy
Newsdigest aims to correct material errors quickly, clearly and proportionately. Readers, sources and organisations are encouraged to report specific concerns.
What to include in a correction request
Provide the story headline or URL, identify the exact statement in question, explain why it may be incorrect and include supporting evidence or a reliable source where possible. Clear requests can be assessed more efficiently than general objections.
How requests are reviewed
The editorial team should compare the published brief with its underlying sources, relevant public records and any new evidence. Where necessary, Newsdigest may contact the person making the request or another relevant party for clarification.
Types of action
- Minor spelling, grammar or formatting issues may be corrected directly.
- A material factual error should be corrected promptly in the story.
- A developing story may be updated when later verified information changes the context.
- Content may be removed or restricted where publication creates a serious legal, safety or privacy concern.
Disagreement and clarification
A correction is not required merely because a person dislikes accurate coverage. However, significant ambiguity, missing context or an unfair presentation may justify clarification even where an individual sentence is technically accurate.
Submitting a request
Use the Contact page and select or clearly state that the message concerns a correction. Include contact details so the team can reply if more information is needed.
